Professional Career
Early Life
Wesley Fofana was born in Marseille, Bouches-du-Rhone in France on December 17, 2000. He began his football career at the age of six years playing for SC Repos Vitrolles in 2006, he spent two years before joining the ES Bassin Minier youth in 2008.
He then spent another two years at the Bassin youth system before a switch to JS Des Pennes Mirabeau in 2010, after a year, SC Air Bel signed him and after four years he signed for the st-Etienne under 19.
Saint-Etienne
Having come through the club’s youth system, he first played for Saint Etienne U19 against Bordeaux U19 in the Coupe Gambardella semi-finals where they won 1-0. He started the finals in which they won with two goals over Toulouse U19. Fofana also represented the Saint Etienne B team in 11 Championnat National 2 games before a call to the senior team.
Upon call up to the senior team, he started from the bench in two Ligue 1 games for matchday 35 and 36. He finally made his debut on matchday 37 of the 2018-19 season on May 18, 2019, in a 3-0 home win over Nice followed by the last game of the season that finished in a 1-1 draw with Angers.
2019-20 season, Fofana made 14 Ligue 1 appearances scoring one goal against Nice on December 4, 2019, in a 4-1 home win. However, he missed 10 Ligue 1 games due to a knee injury. In the third round of Coupe de France on January 5, 2020, he scored against Bastia-Borgo in a 3-0 win away.

On October 2, 2020, Leicester City confirmed the signing of Fofana from Saint Etienne for a fee of 35 million euros.
