 Professional Career

Ryan Gravenberch is a Central midfielder playing his club football for Premier League club Liverpool and the Netherlands national team. Gravenberch was born in Amsterdam in the Netherlands on May 16, 2002.

He began his football career at a youth club called AW Zeeburgia at a young age. In July 2010, he joined the Ajax youth team where he then worked his way up through the club system until he managed a breakthrough to the senior team.

Ajax

In his first season 2016-17 with the Under 17 in the Eredivisie, he played 13 games and scores4 goals and assisted twice. His first goal was against ADO in a 2-1 win on March 25, 2017, and scored a brace against Groningen before his fourth against PSV.

2017-18 he had four UEFA Youth League games and nine Eredivisie games in which he scored four goals and in the next season, he managed two in nine games. In 2018-19, he made more appearances cumulating to 32 but scored four goals and had 10 assists.

He made his first Europa League appearances in the 2019-20 season and in 2020-21 he played six Champions League games. He scored his first Champions League goal in a 3-1 win over Midtjylland on November 25, 2020.

In the Eredivisie, he scored three goals in 32 games he played. He scored and assisted against Zwolle at home in a 4-0 win, the second goal was the winner against Feyenoord at home and the third was against Groningen in a 3-1 win on March 7, 2021. He finished the season with five goals and six assists in 47 appearances.

Bayern Munich

Bayern Munich signed him on June 13,2022 on a five year contract for 18 million euros. His first goal was against Victoria Köln in a 5-0 win on August 31,2022 in DFB Pokal.He went on to make a total of 25appearances before joining Liverpool.

Gravenberch joined Liverpool of the deadline day which was on September 1,2023.The Premier League club spent 40million euros to get his services. The contract was for five years.He started as a substitute in 1-3 win away at Wolves coming on at extra time to replace Mohammed Salah.

Netherlands

The midfielder has represented his nation across different levels ranging from the under 15 to the senior team. He first played for the under 15 on January 31, 2017, in an international friendly 5-1 win over Ireland when he was aged 14 years, 8 months, and 15 days under Peter Van der Veen and made a total of four appearances at this level.

He then joined the under 16 where he played six games and scored one goal that came in a 7-0 international friendly win over Poland. At his debut, he was 15 years,5 months, and 9 days. Kees van Wonderen called him to the under 17 team on May 8, 2018, and made featured four times.

His senior team’s major breakthrough finally came in November 2020 under Frank de Boer when he was 18 years, 10 months, and 8 days. He made his debut in a World Cup Qualifier Against Turkey in a game the Netherlands lost 4-2 on March 24, 2021. His first goal was against Georgia on July 6, 2021, in a friendly game.
