Professional Career

 Early Life

Pepe was born in Mantes-la-Jolie in France on May 29, 1995. He holds dual citizenship for France and Ivory Coast. He began his football career playing as a goalkeeper at FC Solitaires Paris Est between 2001 and 2011. Pepe could then join Stade Poitevin FC youth July 1, 2013.

Angers

He joined Angers B on July 1, 2013. He debuted for the club on August 26, 2013 in their 2-1 loss to Arles-Avignon in Coupe de la Ligue game. Pepe featured in seven Ligue 2 games but did not score playing the first game on November 21, 2014.

The club then loaned him in the 2015-16 season to Orleans where he made 29 appearances and scored seven goals the entire season in the Championnat National to help the club earn a promotion as the runners up from the third tier.

He returned to Angers in the 2016-17 season and made 33 appearance scoring three times and assisting once. He helped the club to reach the Coupe de France final but they lost to France giants Paris Saint-Germain 1-0.

Lille

 Pepe joined Lille from Anger for 10 million euro on a five-year deal on June 21, 2017.He became regular starter, deployed as a striker by his coach Marcelo Bielsa early in the season; new coach Christophe Galtier shifted him to the wing.

In the 2017-18 season, he made 36 appearances scored 13 goal and registered four assists to help his club escape relegation to Ligue 2. 2017-18 season was his best season, he was in a good form becoming the second best scorer with 22 goals, and 11 assist behind   Kylian Mbappe. This attracted big clubs including Barcelona but he signed for Arsenal.

Arsenal

Arsenal spent club record fee of 80 million Euro from Lille on August 1, 2019. He first featured in the gunner’s shirt on August 19, 2019 against Newcastle in a 1-0 win coming on as a substitute for Reiss Nelson.

He then scored his first goal for the club from the spot kick in 3-2 win against Aston Villa on September 22, 2019 at Emirates stadium. During the Europa League crash with Vitoria de Guimaraes, he scored a brace to record his first European goals. The winger finished the 2019-20 season with five goal and six assists in 31 Premier League games.

2020-21 season, Pepe made 29 Premier League appearances and 13 in the Europa League scoring a 16 goals six being in the later. His first goal for the season was against rivals Manchester United to welcome Mikel Arteta former Arsenal player as a coach in style.

Ivory Coast

He played his debut game for Ivory Coast on November 15, 2016 under Michel Dussuyer aged 21 years, 5 months and 17 days. He scored his first International goal in a friendly game against Togo in a 2-2 draw. He was part of the Elephants squad that participated in the Africa Cup of Nations held in Gabon. He however, he never made appearance as they were eliminated at the group stages.

In 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt, his nation progressed to the quarterfinals, yet again, he remained unused, and Max Alain Gradel played his position as Pepe failed to impress. They were eliminated in a penalty shootout by Algeria. As at August 2021, he had featured in 21 games for his country registering five goals.
