Professional Career for Kai Havertz

Early life

Kai Lukas Havertz was born at Aachen, North Rhine-Westphalia in Germany on June 11, 1999. He began his football career at the age of four years. He joined Alemannia Mariadorf youths in 2003 where Richard his grandfather was the Chairman.

On July 1, 2009 he joined Alemannia Aachen in Bundesliga 2. After a year, July 1, 2010 he signed for Bayern Leverkusen youth on a free transfer at when he was 11 years old. Thereafter he moved to the Bayern Leverkusen U17 team before a breakthrough to the senior team.

Bayern Leverkusen Under 17

He played four season for the U17 team making only one appearance in his first season, 2013-14. On his second season, he played 23 game in U17 Bundesliga West scoring seven times and assisted twice.

November 2,2014 he registered an assist against Schalke 04 before scoring in two consecutive games, one against Euskirchen and a brace against Koln. In their 2-1 home defeat by Bielefeld, he scored the consoling goal.

In a 2-2 draw with Monchengladbach, he was on the scoresheet and scored in the next game 3-1 win over VFL Bochum and registered an assist on March 14, 2015 draw with Borussia Dortmund. He scored his last goal of the season against Euskirchen. In 2014-15 season, he made 23 appearances scoring 7 goal and assisted twice.

2015-16 season, he made 26 appearances scoring 18 goals and an assist. His first goal was in the season opener 3-2 win over Fc Koln on August 16, 2015. His only assist was against Oberhausen where he also scored a brace.

Bayern Leverkusen Under 19

He played 3 games in EUFA Youth League and assisted in 2-1 win over CSKA Moscow on September 14, 2016 in group E game. Also he featured in 9 Bundesliga West U19 games scoring two goals. His first against VFL Bochum in a 4-1 win on August 21,2016 and the second in 4-1 defeat by Schalke 04 on November 19, 2016.

Bayern Leverkusen Senior Team

Season 2016-17

This was his debut season for the senior team. He represented the club in 24 Bundesliga games, three in the Champions league and one in DFB-Pokal. All his goal of the season came the Bundesliga-four goals and six assists.

His first goal was in 1-1 draw with Koln on December 2016 when he scored in the 90th minute to secure a point for his club. On February 11,2017 he scored in the 3-1 win over Frankfurt before netting brace against Augsburg.

He once again assisted his club to secure a point at home against Wolfsburg by scoring and assisting in a 3-3 draw on April 2nd. Havertz was involved in the last three games of the season, he scored against Ingolstadt, assisted against Koln and scored a brace in last game of the season in 6-2 win at Hertha BSC.

Season 2017-18

In his second season he played 35 games across all competition.  Five of his games were in DFB-Pokal where he one goal on February 6,2018 in the quarter-finals when they won at extra time 4-2 over Werder Bremen but Bayern Munich defeated the m 6-2 in the semi-finals.

Havertz had three goal and nine assists in Bundesliga. He registered three assists in 5-1 win over Borussia Monchengladbach on October 21, 2017. In December he assisted against Dortmund, Hannover and Bayern Munich and scored in 2-0 win over Stuttgart.

February 17, 2018, he found the net in 2-1 win over Hamburger SV. His last goal of the season was against Leipzig when they won 4-1 followed by two assists at home win over Frankfurt.

Season 2018-19

The third season for Havertz as he had more playing time as he made a total of 42 appearances in all competitions. Two games in DFB-Pokal but did not score, six in Europa League scoring three goals and registered three assists. The other 34 games were in Bundesliga.

He scored a brace in the first Europa League Group A 3-2 win at Ludogorets, scored and assist in the second group game against AEK Larnaca on October 4, 2018 and finally made two assists in third group game 3-2 loss at FC Zurich on October 25th.

He scored double figure goals in the Bundesliga (17) and assisted four times. The first goal was against Mainz 05 on September 23,2018.  The same month, he registered two assists against Dusseldorf and Borussia Dortmund.

In October he scored a brace in 6-2 win at Werder Bremen as he assisted against Stuttgart and scored in 1-1 draw with Nuremberg in November. He Scored a brace in December 22 when they won 3-1 over Hertha BSC.

In January 2019 he scored one goal followed by two goals and an assist in February against Borussia Dortmund in a 3-2 loss. March 10, he scored against Hannover 96. In April he had four goals including a brace in 4-2 loss over Leipzig. He finished the season with three goals in May 2019.

Season 2019-20

The fourth season for Havertz at Leverkusen he played 5 Europa League games, scored four goals, and assisted in two others.  The first goal was at home 2-1 win over Porto in the first leg of the intermediate stage.

In the second leg he scored and assisted twice as they won 3-1. Havertz also scored against Rangers in the first leg of the last 16 before again scoring against Inter Milan in the quarter finals as they lost 2-1.

During the DFB-Pokal, he appeared in 5 games. He scored in the first round 4-1 win at Alem. Aachem, assisted in quarter finals 3-1 win over Union Berlin. He missed the semifinals due to muscular problem but returned and scored in the finals on July 4, 2020. Unfortunately, they lost to Bayern Munich 4-2.

In Bundesliga, he played 30 games and scored 12 times with six assists under his name.  in the opening game, he scored against SC. Paderborn in 3-2 home win. September 28, 2019, he scored and assisted as they overcame Augsburg by 3 goals.

He missed one game against Freiburg in November due to torn muscle fibre. In January 2020 he had two goal and an assist. February he scored against Berlin and assisted in 2-0 win over Augsburg. March he scored against Frankfurt and assisted twice.

Havertz did not score in April but in May he scores two braces against Werder Bremen and Borussia Monchengladbach and another goal in 1-0 win over Freiburg. Against Bayern Munich he was out due to muscular problem. He scored his last goal of the season as he assisted in 3-1 win over Koln on July 17,2020.

 Chelsea

Season 2020-21

After joining Chelsea in September 2020 Havertz kick started his life at London in the League opener against Brighton away in a 3-1 win on September 14 and on September 26 he assisted in 3-3 draw at West Brom.

He scored his first League goal on October 17 at Stamford Bridge in a 3-3 draw with Southampton. November 4, 2020 Havertz tested positive for Covid-19 and missed two League games and one Champions League group stage game against Stade Rennais.

January 3, 2021 he scored his second goal in their 3-1 loss at home to Manchester City, he was sidelined on February due to a knock injury and was on the bench in a draw with Manchester United.

April 10, 2021, he scored and assisted in 4-1 win over Crystal Palace, he scored a brace at home against Crystal Palace to help Chelsea win 2-1 on May 1st, this were his last goals he scored in the league for that season.

He scored in the FA Cup third round and assisted in 4-0 win over Morecambe Fc on January 10, 2021 as Chelsea progressed to the finals of the competition only to lose to Leicester City by a goal to nil following a fine strike by Youri Tielemans in the 63rd minute.
