Professional Career
Early Life
Joao Felix was born on November 10, 1999 and began his football career in the year 2008 when he joined a youth club called OS Pestinhas at the age of eight years. He then joined Fc Porto and spent seven years at their youth system.
The young Felix moved out of his parents’ home in a bid to relocate to near Porto to ease him from regular travel to Porto for training. At some point, he had given up with his football career due lacking of playtime but with encouragement from his dad he kept moving.
Porto then released him considering his little stature and the frequent travel he could make to attend training between his hometown Viseu and Porto. The young Joao then joined Padroense spending a year and he shifted to Benfica youth in 2015 aged 15 years.
Benfica
He joined Benfica and was part of the reserve team making his debut on September 17, 2016 against Freamunde in LigaPro to set a record as youngest player to start for the club. However, Cher Ndour broke his record in 2021.
In his debut season 2016-17 at Benfica playing for Benfica B team, he made 15 appearances with 13 being in the LigaPro and two in the International Cup scoring five goals in the two competitions. His first goal was against Academico de Viseu in a 2-1 loss.
