 Early Life

Hudson Odoi was born in Wandsworth, London on November 7, 2000, and attended school at Whitgift School that is located in Croydon. Even so, being talented, he had to focus on his football career. Moreover, he joined the Chelsea youth system in 2007 and was training until August 2016 when he made his debut with the under 18 team. As of 2021 Odoi is 20 years old.

Chelsea

Season 2016-17

Odoi made his Chelsea under 18 debut in the 2016-17 season, he played his first game on August 20, 2016, in the under 18 Premier League 3-2 away win against Southampton under 18 Jody Morris, Odoi was 15 years,9 months and 13 days.

In his debut season, he scored 5 goals and assisted in 4 others in his 18 appearances at the under 18 Premier League. Soon after his debut, he scored his first goal in under the under 18 PL on November 4, 2016, in the 75th minute in their 1-3 away at Brighton. He won the FA Cup with the under 18 team that season.

Season 2017-18

In the 2017-18 season, Odoi featured across all club levels. Firstly, he played just one game for the under 18 team on March 10, 2017, in a 4-0 win over Westham under 18. Secondly, he made six UEFA Youth League Appearances for the under 19 team scoring against Qarabag U 19 on September 12, 2017, in a game Chelsea won at home 5-0.

Further, he continued with his season run with six games in the Football League Trophy with the U-21 team scoring 4 goals and registered 2 assists. Besides, Odoi played on 10 occasions for the U-23 in the PL 2 Division 1, he scored and assisted against Manchester United U-23 at home on September 18, 2017, in a 2-2 draw.

On November 18, he found the net in a 2-3 away defeat by Tottenham U-23, a week later he scored his third goal against Liverpool U-23 before his hat trick against Sunderland U-23 on January 14, 2018. Finally, he appeared twice for the senior team.

Season 2018-19

He played 5 Premier 2 division 1 for under 23 and scored one goal on September 16, 2018, against Leicester City in a 1-1 draw at home. Maurizio Sarri who was the new Chelsea manager included him in the senior team.

He was included in the 2-0 FA Cup squad in a 0-2 home loss to Manchester United in the fifth round before scoring in the fourth round against Sheffield at home in a 3-0 win on January 27, 2019. In the third round, he assisted in both goals in a 2-0 win over Nottingham Forest.

When the January transfer window opened, Bundesliga club Bayern Munich sought to sign Odoi, with both clubs confirming the interest, Odoi himself handed in a transfer request in a bid to join Bayern. However, his request was not successful as Sarri confirmed he was staying at Chelsea.

In the Europa League, he played 9 games, scored 4 times, had 2 assists. He scored and assisted against PAOK in the group stage, one other in the intermediate stage with Malmo before scoring in both legs against Dynamo Kyiv in the last 16 including an assist.

Unfortunately, he was sidelined for the rest of the campaign after just 10 Premier League appearances after suffering Achilles Tendon injury against Burnley. He had registered an assist in his first league game for the club.

Season 2019-20

Before the season began, Bayern Munich came back yet again to try if they could sign him, their offer of 22.5 pounds was rejected. With the arrival of club legend Frank Lampard in July 2019, Odoi committed his further with the club by signing a five-year contract on September 20, 2019.

He played 22 Premier League games and scored a goal on January 11, 2020, at home in a 3-0 win over Burnley, in addition, he had 5 assists to his name. In UEFA Champions League he made 5 appearances assisting in a 1-2 loss at Lille on February 10, 2019.

The England international scored in 7-1 home win over Grimsby Town on September 25, 2019, in the third round of the EFL Cup and in the FA Cup 2-0 win against Nottingham Forest third round on January 5, 2020. He finished the season with 3 goals and 6 assists in 33 games across all competitions.

Season 2020-21

Odoi made a total of 37 appearances for the club across all competitions, he scored five goals and 5 assists. Of his goals, two were in the Premier League, one against West Brom in a 3-3 away draw on September 26, 2020. And the other was on January 3, 2021 home 1-3 defeat by Manchester City.

He had two assists against Arsenal on boxing day and on January 31, 2021, following his increased game time as Thomas Tuchel the Replacement of Frank Lampard began utilizing him on the right back.

October 28, 2020, against Krasnodar, Odoi scored his first Champions League goal and subsequently grasped the second in the competitions in the same months away at Rennais in 1-2 group E defeat on November 24, 2020.

His other goal was in his five FA Cup appearances in which he scored and assisted in the third round home 4-0 win over Morecambe Fc on January 10, 2021, to bring to his cumulative five goals for the season.

England U-16

For the under 16, Odoi played two games and did not score, Dan Micciche included him in the squad that faced Norway U16 but played his first game against USA U15 in an international friendly 3-3 home draw on August 19, 2015. Also, he played his second game on February 21, 2016, at home against Italy U16, England won by a goal.

England U-17

Steve Cooper named him in the under 17 team for the U17 UEFA Euro Championship. He played 6 games in the competition scoring three goals and had 2 assists to his name as England finished the runners-up. At his debut, Odoi was 15 years, 10 months and 21 days.

He registered an assist against Norway in the group stage on May 7, 2017, in a 1-3 loss before scoring and assist three days later against Netherlands. In the semi-finals, they played Turkey U17 and won 2-1 Odoi being in the score sheet. After booking themselves a ticket for the finals, they face Spain, he once again scored as England lost 6-3 on Penalties.

In the U17 FIFA World Cup, Odoi was key as he netted in 4-0 win over Chile, he had 2 assists as well in his 7 appearances. On September 30,2016 in an international friendly with Greece Odoi scored in 3-0 win.

England U-18

At this level, he did not play many games as he only made 3 appearances. First, he was unused against Qatar in 4-0 win on March 21, 2018 in the international friendlies. He played the full game in 2-1 win over Argentina before he scored in his third game on March 26 against Belarus. England won 2-1, his debut at this stage was at the age of 17 years, 4 months and 16 days.

England U-19

Odoi played his first U19 aged 17 years, 9 months, and 29 days. With 3 games in the Championship Qualifiers and 4 in the International friendlies, he scored twice and assisted in one other occasion against Iceland in 3-1 win. His goals were against Belgium and Macedonia.

England U-21

Aidy Boothroyd selected Odoi for the under 21’s when he was 18 years,11 months and 4 days prior to their EUFA Euro 2020 Qualifiers. On October 11, 2019 he debuted in 2-2 draw against Slovenia.
