Professional Career

Pablo Gavira commonly Known as Gavi was born in Los Palaciosy Villafranca, Spain on August 5, 2004. He began his football career at Real Betis youths before joining Barcelona youths on July 2015. He made his debut for Barcelona B on February 21, 2021, in a 6-0 home win over CE L’Hospitalet.

After three appearances for the Barcelona B, Gavi impressed and he received a call to the senior team. He first featured in the Champions League 3-0 loss to Bayern Munich on coming on as a substitute for Sergio Busquets on the 59th minute on September 14, 2021, at the group stage. He made his LA Liga debut against Getafe in a 2-1 win on August 29, 2021.

He has represented his country Spain beginning with the under 15 where he played four games and scored a goal after making a debut on December 3, 2018, under Julen Guerrero at the age of 14 years, 3 months, and 28 days.

He went on to feature three times for the under 16 before joining the under 18 whose manager was Pablo Amo when he was 17 years and 27 days. Upon identifying his talent, Luis Enrique included him in the senior team on October 6, 2021, at age of 17 years, 2 months, and 1 day.

On October 6, 2021, he made his senior team debut in the UEFA Nations League Semi-finals against Italy in a game the won 2-1 playing 83 minutes before Sergi Roberto replaced him. In the finals against France, he started as they lost 2-1 to finish the competition as runners-up.

Gavi joined Barcelona youths in July 2015 on a free transfer and came through the club’s ranks all through to the senior team. In July 2019 he moved to the under 16 team and after a year he joined the under 19. Subsequently, Gavi on July 1, 2021, received a senior team call. The midfielder is on a two-year contract with Barcelona that will expire on June 30, 2023.
