Professional Career

The Spaniard who captained all the youth teams that he played for began his football career at his hometown at the age of seven years. What surprised many was his ultimate departure in 2017 when he joined Manchester City where he took the armband for the U18 and was integral in their U19 UEFA Youth League.

During the first season with the U18, he played a total of 25 games in which he scored five goals in 2018 he made his debut during the pre-season and started in a 1-1 draw with Leicester City in the EFL Cup in December, having played his first League game on September in 8-0 win over Watford.

He went on to win the heart of his coach and he established himself as a first-choice player representing is the club in all competitions in partnership with Aymeric Laporte at the heart of the city’s backline.

June 17, 2020, was such a bad day for the Centre back on his line of duty when he had to be treated and withdrawn from the field while fitted with oxygen on his face after he collided with his teammate Ederson in a Premier League game against rival Arsenal a game they won by 3-0.

Garcia who left Barcelona unexpectedly to join Manchester City once again did the unthinkable when he turned down the club’s offer to extend his contract in August 2020. He could then sign for Barcelona in June 2021.

Upon his return to the Serie A giants, he debuted in a 4-2 win over Real Sociedad. His start however at Barcelona was challenge-laden as he received two red cards on his second month the first being in a 1-1 draw with Athletic Bilbao and the second in a Champions League Group game against Benfica.

He has represented Spain from under 19 to under 21 before being included in the first team on August 20, 2020, for the UEFA Nations League followed by a call to the 24-man squad for the 2020 UEFA Euro and later in the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo.
