Professional Career

 Early Life

Diogo Jota was born on December 4, 1996 in Porto, Portugal. He began his football career playing at Pacos de Ferreira youth team joining from Gondomar SC where he played between 2005 and 2013.

Pacos Ferreira

July 1, 2013 Jota joined Pacos Ferreira under 19 team and spent two years before he got a call to join the senior team on January 10, 2015. He then made 10 appearances in Primera Liga scoring two goal that came when he scored a brace in a 3-2 home win against Academica de Coimbra.

Following his impressive start of the season, the club offered him a five-year contract that he signed on May 30, 2015 to stay at the club until 2020. However, Jota could not finish his contract at the club as Atletico Madrid paid 7 million to acquire his services on July 6, 2016.


He joined his home club Porto on a one-year loan from Atletico Madrid after signing a five-year deal on March 14, 2016. Jota scored a hat trick away to C.D National in a 4-0 win. He made 27 Primeira Liga appearances and scored eight goals and five assists in the 2016-17 season. He also had a chance to gain Champions League experience by playing eight games and scored a goal.


Jota first joined Wolves on July 25, 2017 on a season long loan from Atletico Madrid. He made 44 games for the club in the Championship, scored 17 goals, and assisted in five others occasions in the 2017-18 season.

His goals were key as he helped the club to gain Premier League Promotion after finishing first in the Championship. He made his Premier League debut against Everton on August 11, 2018 a game they drew 2-2.

On July 1, 2018, Wolves signed Jota on a permanent deal from Atletico Madrid for a fee of 14 million euro. He then put the ball behind the net in the top flight for the first time at home in a 2-1 win over Chelsea.

Jota became the second Portuguese to score Premier League hat trick after fellow citizen Cristiano Ronaldo who was playing for Manchester United when he bagged three goals in 4-3 home win against Leicester City.

His goal in the FA Cup 2-1 win over Manchester United helped the club to reach its first Semi-Final in the Cup. He was key in for the club in Europa League scoring on group stage and round of 16 against Espanyol.

Jota played his last game for Wolves on August 11, 2020 against Sevilla in Europa League Quarterfinal before joining Liverpool. He concluded his 2019-20 Premier League campaign with seven goals and an assist in 34 appearances.


The reds spend 45 million euro to get Jota from Wolves. He debuted in EFL Cup 7-2 win against Lincoln. He scored his first goal in his first Premier League game in 3-1 home win crash with rivals Arsenal on September 28, 2020.
